Increase team member motivation by giving them exposure to people or areas of the company. Understanding, appreciating and taking advantage of different approaches to problem solving can yield superior problem solving results for high performance teams. Making every meeting count is extremely important dimension of high functioning teams. Steve Roesler has written an excellent post called “Better Meetings Better Leadership“. I’d like to build on his key points, which were: Decide in advance the type of meeting you need which will determine the tone and level of participation from the team. [...] “I don’t have time”! How often do each of us say this everyday or at least think it. But we also know we make time for what we think is important. How individuals are best motivated needs to fit best with the individuals preferences I’ll cover 4 different perspectives which should address the majority of team members. Brendan’s fatal flaw was making commitments and not nurturing them, the same is true of effective teams. Make commitments with forethought and manage them through to completion. |
